Industry Data: Import And Export Of Cashmere Raw Materials And Products In The First Quarter Of 2025
In the first quarter of this year, the import and export of cashmere raw materials and products totaled 320 million US dollars, down 3.93% year on year. Among them, export was 266 million US dollars, up 4.25% year on year, and import was 54.14 million US dollars, down 30.68% year on year. This trend is basically consistent with the overall performance of the wool textile industry (the total import and export volume in the first quarter decreased by 0.5% year on year).
1、 Export
There is obvious differentiation in export. There were 683 tons of non plush exports, amounting to US $66.2 million, down 31.10% and 30.62% respectively year on year, mainly due to the shrinking demand of the Italian market (the overall export of wool textile raw materials and products to the EU market fell 9.2% in the same period), which led to the pressure on the export of upstream raw materials; The intermediate products showed a bright performance, and the export volume and price of cashmere yarn rose simultaneously. In the first quarter, 935 tons of cashmere yarn were exported, amounting to US $100 million. The export volume and export volume increased by 17.63% and 20.82% respectively year on year. At the same time, the average unit price also increased by 2.71% year on year.

In terms of end products, the export volume and price fluctuated significantly. Among them, 2.18 million pieces of cashmere sweaters were exported, with a year-on-year decrease of 24.51% and an amount of 78.46 million dollars, up 31.03%; The average unit price increased by 73.57%. Similar to cashmere sweaters, 960000 cashmere scarves were exported in the first quarter, with an amount of US $14.52 million, a decrease of 5.34% in the number and an increase of 22.94% in the amount. In the first quarter before the tariff war, the export of cashmere sweaters and scarves showed a trend of falling in quantity and rising in price. Whether they were affected by tariff expectations or confirmed the transformation trend of "fewer but better" high-end products under the background of global consumption degradation remains to be further observed.
2、 Import
The impact of the US tariff policy casts a shadow on global trade, which is also reflected in imports. In the first quarter, the import of uncooked cashmere was at a standstill. The import of non cashmere was 32 tons, amounting to US $84900. The import volume and import value decreased by 40.41% and 87.49% respectively year on year. The number and amount of imports of cashmere yarn, carded cashmere fabric, cashmere sweaters, scarves and other products declined significantly. Among them, 44600 cashmere sweaters were imported, amounting to 22.67 million US dollars. The import volume and import volume decreased by 11.4% and 17.7% year on year. The wait-and-see sentiment in the domestic consumer market is still strong.

3、 Follow up observation
At present, many cashmere producing areas have listed new cashmere in succession. After a period of cautious wait and see in the early stage, a small number of transactions have gradually emerged in various regions. Compared with the same period last year, raw material prices did not fluctuate significantly in the first quarter as a whole due to multiple uncertainties.
With the transmission of orders in the international market to the front end of the supply chain, the implementation of the export policy of the raw material country and the steady growth policy of the domestic demand market, the cashmere industry chain is expected to experience a new round of adjustment cycle, which will offset the impact of multiple uncertainties in the market by balancing raw materials, inventory, sales and production rhythm, and trade structure, And accelerate the strategic transformation of China's wool textile industry to the upstream of the value chain.
